It checks the forecast against your local knowledge of each break and how you like it, then gives you the answer. It isn't a stranger on the other side of the world guessing what works at your breaks.

Your conditions, not a generic rating

Other apps' star ratings measure a spot against someone else's idea of good conditions. BommieSurf scores each break against the swell, wind and tide you've said work there, set to your own preferences.

Tide is scored, not just charted

Drag a sweet spot across the tide, from 0% low water to 100% high, and say whether it should be rising or falling. Mark tide as critical and the wrong tide caps the score however good everything else is. Pick which tide station each break is scored against.

Wind, set your way

Set the direction that works at each break, how many degrees either side it can swing, and the maximum strength you'll paddle out in. A break that handles a cross-shore gets scored that way, and one that only works dead offshore doesn't.

Any break, pinned by you

Drop a pin anywhere, whether it's a point, a reef or a bank no one else surfs. Your breaks stay private and never go into a public spot list.

An answer, not a wall of charts

Every daylight hour gets a score out of 10 — Firing, Fun, Marginal or Poor — and the app shows what's holding it back, so you get a decision instead of charts to decode.

Alerts you set up yourself

Choose which breaks alert you and how good it has to be — say 8.5 or better — before your phone buzzes. You only hear about it when it's on, and ten breaks turning on send one message, not ten.

Pin your breaks

Drop a pin on any spot and set the open-ocean swell size and direction, wind direction, tolerance and maximum, and the tide sweet spot that work there. That setup is what every score is measured against.
